On Saturday 18 May, Living Word Bookshop celebrated 50 years of serving the local churches and community around Bognor Regis.  Owners Tony and Lindsay Leney held an open day at the shop with food and goodies for guests.

Norman Todd, the present landlord, and one of the original proprietors, prayed a prayer of thanksgiving and cut a special ‘birthday’ cake. This was made by the daughter-in-law of the present proprietors, with Isaiah 43 hand-written on the icing!

Well-wishers and past shop staff and volunteers from a variety of churches came throughout the day.  They were given a free devotional book to mark the occasion.

Tony Leney, who with Lindsay is a long-standing member of King’s Gate Church, says, “As an independent bookshop, we are able to source stock from a wide range of suppliers and have a dedicated children’s section.  We thank God for the past 50 years.”
