Turkey’s President Erdogan has warned of a “coming war between the cross and the crescent”. Speaking at an election campaign rally in Istanbul, he was hitting back at the Austrian Chancellor’s recent announcement of plans to shut down seven mosques and expel 60 imams accused of spreading radical Islam and being illegally funded by the Turkish government.
