Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino was baptised on 15 January in a swimming pool.
Firmino said: “Jesus is love. [There is] no explanation. Just believe it.” The footballer shared a video of the ceremony in Hillingdon on Instagram. In the caption, Firmino said: “I gave you my failures and the victories I will give you too. My greatest title is your love, Jesus!”
Firmino’s wife Lari and Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker hugged him as he emerged from the water.
Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has also been outspoken about his faith, telling German media, “Jesus Christ is the most important person in history.”
