The famous ‘gay cake’ case of Ashers Bakery is continuing. An appeal hearing has been adjourned until 9 May after a last-minute legal submission from the Attorney General for Northern Ireland.

The McArthur family, which owns Ashers Bakery, declined a customer’s request to bake a cake saying “Support gay marriage”.

Under equality laws they were prosecuted by the Northern Ireland Attorney General and found guilty and fined £500. They are appealing and are supported by the Christian Institute’s Legal Defence Fund.
