We may be seeing a prelude to the prophesied end-time climatic judgements

1: IT’S MAN:

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) claims that man-made, or anthropogenic, carbon dioxide (CO2) is largely responsible for the 0.8°C rise in global temperature since 1880.

Certainly, CO2 levels today are said to be at their highest for 800,000 years, and only when models include human influences on the atmosphere are the temperature changes consistent with observation.

Only 4 per cent of CO2 emissions are man-made

However, consider the following points. About 96 per cent of CO2 emissions to the atmosphere are from natural sources; only 4 per cent are man-made. The UK contribution is just 0.04 per cent of the global CO2. Glaciers were retreating and the sea level was rising 100 years before anthropogenic CO2 got going around 1950.

A rise in CO2 does not always correlate with warming; for ex- ample, over the past 3,000 years the Greenland ice sheet temperature (reconstructed from ice cores) declined 1°C, while atmospheric CO2 rose steadily.

Warming predictions are significantly higher than observed, so some claim that climate models are “not fit for purpose”.

2: IT’S THE SUN:

Thousands of scientists claim that climate change is primarily due to changes in solar irradiance (radiant energy from the sun), not CO2. For instance, both surface and air temperatures correlate well with sunspot numbers, which are now decreasing. The net effect of reduced solar activity (sunspots) is increased cloud cover and cooling!

3: IT’S GOD’S WEATHER:

If warming is due to the sun, there is little man can do about it. Even if the IPCC is right, it’s still God’s weather and it seems arrogant to think rebellious mankind can control it.

Expect a hot, dry climate, torrential rains and a wobbly earth

Either way, we may be seeing a prelude to the prophesied end-time climatic judgements because mankind has ignored God’s ordinances. Expect a hot, dry climate, torrential rains and a wobbly earth: “Behold, the Lord makes the earth empty and makes it waste… The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall totter like a hut” (Isaiah 24:1,20).

“For only when your judgments are experienced on the earth will the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness” (Isaiah 26:9).
