Balham experienced a precious move of God as his glory swept among the four churches spreading the Gospel at their annual ‘Glory in the City’ event.
Meetings were open to everyone wanting to experience God in a fresh, new way.
The main speaker was Dr John Shiver (pronounced Shyver) who also ministered at a leaders’ and pastors’ breakfast on the Saturday morning following the previous evening’s powerful Word and Worship at Pastor Sam and Ruth Opong’s Oasis Church in Colliers Wood.
Dr Shiver, who recently returned from a crusade reaching over 7000 people in India to be at this year’s event, has so far made 39 trips to the UK. The weight of God’s presence was very powerful; particularly heavy on the Saturday evening at Pastor Des & Sue Figueiredo’s Kalos Centre, in Balham.
As keyboard and guitarist played softly in the background without any special effects, John’s ministry to the youth had remarkable impact; an amazing presence of God descended upon the church.
What resonated bore resemblance to the singing of an angelic choir. The youth were the worship team from Pastor Cesar’s Spanish speaking ICIMA Generations Church in Clapham Crescent, Balham, hosted by Pastors Joel and Lynn Macinnes at Elim Church, who were also in Clapham Crescent the following evening. Worship lifted to the heavens!
Pastor Des stated that over the years they have been “privileged to benefit from different ministries who have shaped their thinking and practice as a community church.”
Part of their declaration reads “We believe that our eternal destination is heaven through our response to the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe God has called us to witness and proclaim the gospel, promoting justice and love, and helping to bring people into a personal relationship with Jesus.”
