Your depiction of the protestors in Hong Kong (International news, Aug/Sept) as Christians who are doing what Jesus would do in their situation is quite appalling – and a serious misrepresentation of the character and ministry of Jesus, who, “when he suffered… did not threaten” (1 Peter 2:23).
Jesus lived in a land under Roman occupation, but was never a political activist.
Political activism of the sort seen in Hong Kong is carnal, and not a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:20). Joshua Wong and others are under a serious delusion in believing that the protest is a proper Christian response.
