Reports emanating from Canberra suggest that new Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison is seriously considering moving its Israeli embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in line with the policy of US President Donald Trump. Morrison is a born-again Christian attending a Pentecostal church in Sydney.
Also reportedly planning such a move is Brazil’s new president Jair Bolsonaro, set to be sworn in on 1 January and intent on making Israel his first international destination in office. He has also promised to close the Palestinian embassy in Brasilia. (See the International news page)
