A new TWR app for smartphones will reach migrants in Europe

Christian broadcaster Trans World Radio (TWR) has begun implementing the first phase of a project to reach migrants and refugees stranded across Europe.

The United Nations is increasingly recognising stress, depression and mental illness as serious problems for migrants. TWR has created Refugee Bridge, an Android app which brings together audio content with a format accessible on smartphones. Migrants typically carry smartphones in order to keep up to date with news and to remain in contact with their homes and family.

Available now in the Arabic language, Refugee Bridge re-broadcasts radio programmes originally produced for use in Syria and Lebanon. The App contains Hope for Syria episodes and Women of Hope programmes. The next step is to create and upload new programmes for refugees and migrants to Europe in a variety of languages, beginning with Farsi. They will provide biblical counsel on issues, such as displacement and loneliness.
