Mervyn Thomas challenged the media’s apathy over murdered Nigerian Christians

Most attacks on Christians in Nigeria go unreported by local and international media, according to ASSIST News.

The Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria (Church of the Brethren in Nigeria) or EYN states that there were over 50 attacks by Boko Haram militants from the end of 2019 to June 2020, most of which were “unreported or under reported by both the print and electronic media.”

Over 700,000 EYN church members have been displaced, over 8,370 people killed, and an unknown number of people abducted.

Christian Solidarity Worldwide’s chief executive Mervyn Thomas said: “The Boko Haram factions continue to be responsible for the most appalling violence in north-east Nigeria on an almost daily basis. However, aside from particularly appalling incidents that garner international attention, the majority of these attacks go unreported and unnoticed.”
