Christians from West Leigh Baptist Church met in the open air to stand in solidarity with persecuted Christians overseas.

Release International has been encouraging churches across the UK to brave the elements to take part in the Great Outdoors Church Service. The service, held on May 25, was an act of identification with Christians around the world who have been barred from their buildings, or whose churches have been burned by militants. Many continue to meet in the open air despite the risk of reprisals or attacks.

“It’s great to stand with these faithful, courageous believers,” says Paul Robinson of Release International.

This report came from Sussex-based journalist Andrew Boyd – did any Sussex churches take part?
