Over 100 clerics in the Oxford diocese have written an open letter criticising their bishops’ liberal stance on LGBT issues.
The 7 January letter warns that the 104 signatories will seek alternative oversight if the four bishops don’t heed biblical doctrines.
The bishops’ ‘ad clerum’ stated that LGBTI people should be able to receive the sacraments and be involved in church leadership. The clergy responded: “We cannot see how it is right to accept as Christian leaders those who advocate lifestyles that are not consistent with New Testament teaching.”
