Richard Page, a magistrate of 30 years’ standing, has been removed from the Bench for believing that a child should have a mother and a father.

On 4 March, the Lord Chancellor decreed that Richard could no longer serve as a magistrate.

Andea Williams of Christian Concern, which has supported Richard, said: “Richard has served as a magistrate in Kent for 15 years and is a well-respected member of the family court. He expressed the view during a closed-door consultation with two other magistrates in a routine adoption case. Having heard all the evidence, Richard decided that his legal duty to act in the best interests of the child meant that he could not agree with placing the child with a same-sex couple.”

Richard Page is planning legal action over his dismissal.
