This September female pupils were locked out of the mixed Priory School, Lewes, East Sussex, because they arrived in skirts, not the new “gender-neutral” uniform of trousers.

Trousers can be unacceptable to many Christians and to girls with weight problems.

One mother said, “Some girls feel they don’t look good in trousers and this could make them become very body-conscious.”

Hundreds signed a petition and the local MP has expressed her concern. How ironic that in trying to be ‘inclusive and PC’ the school has taken away the girls’ freedom.
