The draft text for a new Scottish schools resource says 13-year-olds can have sex if they want, because they won’t be prosecuted.

According to the Campaign for Real Education, the Scottish government will effectively be lowering the age of consent if the Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood (RSHP) materials are used.

The lesson plan suggests teaching pupils that although sex under 16 is illegal, those aged 13 and over can go ahead because prosecution is “very unusual”.

In other words, the authorities won’t give a hoot.
