A group of Christian girls has been rescued from Isis after they texted their local priest.

Under the headline of ‘Divine intervention’, the Sunday Express reported that seven girls had been “miraculously saved” from jihadists. Church leaders thought the schoolgirls were in a safe area in the Iraqi city of Kirkuk, but when Isis launched a surprise attack the girls had to hide from Isis soldiers for seven hours.

However, the girls texted Father Ammar, who was 60 miles away at the time. He contacted government forces who carried out a successful rescue.
