Foreign tourists – and the host country – were duped for years in the early 1980s over a glamorous-sounding holiday destination on the shores of the Red Sea in Sudan. In fact, it was a front for Israeli agents on a secret mission to help Ethiopian Jews emigrate to Israel, who ran both ‘businesses’ well until they were betrayed and had to escape, leaving just one staff member to cater to the bemused guests.
