Dr Sanjee Perera, a research fellow at the University of Birmingham, gave a keynote talk titled, ‘Where have all the black saints gone?’ at this October’s Christian Resources Exhibition (CRE) at Sandown Park, Esher. Speaking on the first ever CRE Ladies’ Day, she examined how goodness, holiness, beauty and virtue became synonymous with whiteness, explaining that this has become a double burden for women with black and minority ethnicities.
